Kids are the catalyst for lifestyle change.
This being the first official blog post, I’d like to give some background to who we are as a family. Full disclosure – I will curse. It’s in our nature.
There’s so much verbage to describe one’s lifestyle now, and I just refuse. We have no label. We follow what feels good, when it feels good, and we parent similarly. One day, I might be channeling Snow White; the next, Ursula. Be warned, there will be more Disney references. We’re fans.
Of course, “We” refers to my husband and I. Our unit in total consists of myself, Gage (my husband), and our two boys Gareth (7) and Rohen (2). Full stop here, our crew is complete.
So why Hitched & Healthy? Yet another “health and wellness” blog? Hardly. We’re here to share the pitfalls, the progress, and the growth. You’ll find a blog post each month and an accompanied podcast episode to go with it. Maybe even some videos! We’re not super hyped on that, though. Forewarned. What we do want is to conversate, connect and inspire families who have the desire to change things about their lifestyle, themselves, their kids, parenting, marriage, etc. We’re here for it!
For those of you wondering what values we live by, or lifestyles we practice (and ones we don’t,) let’s do a quick list! Super fan of lists. 📃✔
- Paced/Non-Traditional Schooling
- No helicopter parenting
- Authenticity with our children
- Agnostic/evolving
- No specific food lifestyle (vegan, keto, paleo, etc) we eat based on what works for our individual needs.
- Respectful parenting
- Open communication marriage
These are just a few topics you’ll hear us chatting about. I think a great way to sum up what you can expect from Hitched & Healthy is to enjoy some bantering about marriage, how we try to juggle keeping our family healthy & happy even when shit hits the fan, and how letting your kids be human (showing them you are too!) can be the most bonding experience.
So here’s your intro, now go check out the first podcast episode here!
